As those of you who read Campaign Asia-Pacific will already know, today we're very excited to announce the opening of We Are Social Singapore, our seventh global office. Simon Kemp is leading the team in Singapore, who have already started work on a couple of great projects, and there are a few more in the pipeline.
Since I first met Simon on a Skype call over a year ago, I've been highly impressed by his strategic thinking, his knowledge of the marketing and cultural landscape in Asia, and of course, his massive enthusiasm for social media. So it's fantastic to have him on board as part of our global management team.
Simon joins us from BBH in Singapore, where he championed social media marketing across the Asia-Pacific region. He was instrumental in developing Chupa Chups's global social media strategy, and he worked with a variety of clients including Unilever's Axe, Vaseline and Surf brands, the BBC, Levi's and the Singapore Tourism Board.
Before BBH, Simon was Asia-Pacific Communications Planning Director at Universal McCann and previously, Starcom Mediavest. He started out his career in management consulting with stints at Accenture and Ascension Strategy Consulting.
I was equally impressed with the enthusiasm of the rest of the team when I met them on a recent trip to Singapore. They are already contributing local insights on some of our global clients, improving the overall offering of our growing global network. We discussed the many facets of social media in the region over some stingray, satay and a few Tiger beers in true We Are Social style!
As Simon points out in his blog post marking the occasion, the 1 billion existing social media users in the region represents an incredible opportunity for brands. We’re looking forward to helping them make the most of it.
