On Monday evening, Advertising Age gathered the great and the good of Europe’s advertising and marketing industry at the Savoy in London to celebrate its inaugural ‘Women to Watch in Europe’ awards. In Ad Age’s words, the awards honour 20 “outstanding women in marketing, advertising and media who are changing the industry”.

I’m both delighted and proud to say that among those named was our Managing Director in Paris, Sandrine Plasseraud.

This award is especially poignant for me, as Sandrine has played such an important and longstanding role in We Are Social’s success. She joined We Are Social as one of the very first members of our team back in 2008, and went on to found our first overseas office in Paris barely a year or so later. Since inception, the team in France has gone from strength to strength in terms of their work and growth – notably, they recently hit the milestone of 100 employees, up from 65 a year ago.

Paris team

Over the last six years, the team in Paris has produced some incredible work that’s helped set the standard for social both in France and globally. The team’s first award-winning campaign, 2013’s Tweet & Shoot for BNP Paribas, gained recognition from the likes of Eurobest, Webbys and The Shortys.

Fast forward to more current successes, the team picked up two Lions at Cannes last year (the agency’s first) with Hello Play! for Hello Bank!; created their first TVC as part of an integrated social thinking campaign with the We Are Tennis Fan Academy for BNP Paribas and recently, helped Google undertake the first digital ascension of Mont Blanc using Twitter’s full range of creative features, including polls, emoji art, autoplay videos, gifs, interactive scratchreels and more.

With recent client wins including Google, AXA, L’Oréal Paris, Nestlé and an office that just happens to have been voted the coolest in France (some pretty stiff competition there…), it’s fair to say things are looking good for our Paris team.

Ad Age describes its 20 chosen women “an outstanding group of inspiring women who we are very proud to write about”. I’m sure you’ll join me in congratulating Sandrine – this is a fantastic achievement for both her and our whole team in Paris, reflecting both their success and the amazing work that they’re doing!
