Snap to add watermarks to AI-generated images
Snap is planning to add watermarks to any AI-generated images exported from the app or saved to the camera roll. The watermark will be a translucent image of the Snap logo accompanied by a sparkle emoji. Snap has stated that removing the watermark from the images would violate its terms of use.
Currently, only paying subscribers on Snap are able to create or edit AI-generated images using Snap AI. Its selfie-focused feature, Dreams, also allows users to edit their images using AI. In an effort to provide transparency about these filters and edits, Snap already includes context cards with AI-generated images to better inform users.
LinkedIn is testing new Premium Company Pages
LinkedIn is testing a new subscription offering for businesses called LinkedIn Premium Company Pages. The new service will help brands stand out in the app with new and exclusive features. These include custom call-to-action buttons, ‘Who visited my page’ notifications, custom testimonials, AI-powered post writing assistance, and more. Pages will also receive a LinkedIn Premium logo. LinkedIn has confirmed that it’s testing this new option with selected SMB users, with a starting price point of $99 per month.
TikTok is working on an AI-based text-to-speech feature
In the latest version of the TikTok app for Android, something known as the ‘TikTok Voice Library’ was discovered by code spotter AssembleDebug. The introduction screen to this feature explains that users will be able to create an AI version of their voice by reading out a piece of on-screen text. Users can then utilise this voice in the text-to-voice feature for their videos. It is believed that voices will eventually be available in the TikTok Voice Library for others to use.
Additionally, a new option to ‘Create your voice with AI’ was found but this is yet to be officially named.
Second Hand luxury fashion is coming to TikTok Shop in the UK
TikTok Shop is expanding its secondhand luxury category to the U.K. The category – which has already existed in the U.S. for over six months – allows customers to purchase pre-owned high-end clothing and accessories within the TikTok app. Five brands are currently available, including Sellier, Luxe Collective, Sign of the Times, HardlyEverWornIt, and Break Archive.
Taking away the fear of receiving a knock-off, TikTok Shop has implemented an anti-counterfeit policy that ensures a full refund if a seller is found to have sold a counterfeit product. In the U.S., TikTok Shop sellers must obtain certification from third-party authenticators. However, in the UK, the brands each have their own in-house authentication process instead.
