The role

Overall Purpose of the Strategy Team

A client-facing role, developing innovative strategic solutions for clients and helping them navigate the rapidly evolving world of marketing and communications. Where digital/social, advertising, branding, direct marketing, PR, media, and emerging platforms are all now converging and demand integrated strategic thinking that can catalyse cross-disciplinary opportunities.

Our Planning department is a crucial part of the Agency’s success, helping clients put Social Thinking at the heart of marketing, focus on understanding people and the evolving role of social to generate powerful socially-driven, data-fuelled insights which can drive actionable business value for brands.

What does the role involve?

Research, Insights, Strategic Thinking

  • Taking client briefs, challenging them, developing them into inspiring and informative internal briefs. Keeping abreast of new trends and developments and sharing those with the rest of the team and company on a regular basis. 
  • You will be responsible for unearthing the intel and insights that help more senior strategists make meaning from messy briefs and challenging client contexts.
  • Using agency tools such as social listening, trend reports and other research inputs to inspire smarter strategic discussions around how we solve client problems.
  • Tools we use include: Brandwatch, Global Web Index, Sysomos, Synthesio, Crimson Hexagon and Euromonitor
  • Research approaches we use include: social listening, ethnography, fieldwork, interviews, semiotics

Intelligence & Reporting

  • Helping our clients navigate ever changing landscapes and optimise their work for success through clear report writing and intelligence updates. You will do this via keeping a close eye on the pulse of culture and social trends, and honing an understanding of its impact and implications. 

Youth Culture Understanding

  • Help our internal teams and clients tap into increasingly important youth demographics by being the voice of the generation and their social behaviours.

New Business 

  • You will also play a part in new business development, contributing to research and analysis of strategic contexts for pitches. 

Requirements

What are we looking for?

  • Some relevant internship experience will be preferred. However, we’re more keen to know where you’re going, and where you want to go, than where you’ve been.
  • Open-minded, hungry to improve, proactive, culturally inquisitive character interested in understanding human behaviour and on problem-solving in creative ways
  • Able to work collaboratively and constructively in teams, cool-headed under pressure, organised and has good time management skills 
  • Appreciation of communications/marketing trends and culture
  • Social media/advertising/brand enthusiast
  • Confident enough to speak up, challenge and ask why (a lot)
  • Collaborative with a passion for delivering work that gets people talking
