TikTok rolls out Creator Next
A single hub for monetisation tools is coming to TikTok. Creator Next allows eligible creators to easily access existing tools, as well as two newly released features. Tips is being widely introduced, allowing users to send money directly to their favourite creators. To be able to get your hands on Tips, you must be over the age of 18, have an account in good standing, and have 100,000 followers or more. The new Live Gifts feature lets viewers gift diamonds — a virtual currency that’s redeemable for cash — during livestreams. Diamonds are a creator’s best friend.

Facebook Messenger is getting a bill splitting feature
Going dutch on a date is about to get even easier with Meta’s new built-in bill splitting feature for the Facebook Messenger app. Currently being tested in the US, the feature allows users to ask for money from people in a group Messenger chat. You’ll be able to keep track of who has paid their portion of the request, allowing you to chase up those friends who are taking a little longer to cough up the cash. Ka-ching!

Party Worlds come to Fortnite
Fortnite is putting focus on socialising with new spaces called Party Worlds. Epic has collaborated with two community members on a pair of example Party Worlds, one named Walnut World and the other, Late Night Lounge. The developer is taking more submissions for community-made spaces, indicating Fortnite’s development from a competitive online game into a broader online social space. Party Worlds don’t link out to other islands, meaning they’re a destination rather than a discovery tool.

Meta expands availability of Facebook Protect option
There are some humans that hackers favour, including government officials, human rights defenders and journalists. Meta is expanding access to its Facebook Protect extra security options for these kinds of people, who are most likely to be targeted by malicious hackers. Facebook Protect will expand to more than 50 countries by the end of the year, giving more people the chance to protect their accounts from being compromised.

Twitch will use machine learning to detect people evading bans
In a bid to further reduce harassment on its platform, Twitch is working to identify people who may be attempting to evade bans. A new tool that uses machine learning allows Twitch to identify users as ‘likely’ or ‘possible’ individuals who have avoided bars from a streamer’s channel. This is done by evaluating things such as a user’s behaviour or characteristics, comparing that information against accounts that have been banned from a streamer’s channel.

One in three women endure violence in their lifetime. To mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, our Italy office created ‘Don’t Sit and Watch’ for Juventus FC. Turning one in three seats in the Allianz Stadium orange, the campaign’s launch video portrays some players – including Giorgio Chiellini and Maddalena Nava – as they transform the stands of Allianz, inviting all fans to take action to change the numbers related to gender violence.
