Facebook tests AI prompts for post captions

Need a little help with your Facebook updates? No worries! Meta has your back with some Facebook users now seeing a new “Write with AI” prompt in the post composer.

The feature creates an AI generated caption based on the existing post text or image. Users can then prompt the tool to provide more options, including shorter text, a funnier description, one that’s more “heartfelt”. So, if your Dad’s Facebook posts are suddenly actually funny, this could be why.

Instagram updates Cutouts with new video option

Instagram has expanded its new Cutout sticker option to also include videos, enabling users to create animated stickers from any video clip posted in the app.

There are a few limitations. To create a sticker from a post, the creator must have posted publicly, and the user needs to have enabled permissions for others to create cutouts from their content. Additionally, if the original post is deleted, the video sticker will also be removed.

Meta is being more transparent with AI content 

Meta is working to establish new rules around AI disclosure in its apps with a new feature for people to disclose when they share AI-generated video or audio. Once users provide this disclosure, Meta will add a label to the content, marking it as AI-generated. Meta has stated that failure to flag content may result in penalties for the user.

At the moment Meta requires people to use this disclosure and label tool, but they are working on a new tool that will be able to automatically identify AI generated content. 

Tiktok is testing a new subscriber-only chat 

TikTok is testing a new element called “Sub Space’. It is an addition to TikTok’s Live subscription tools, allowing creators to establish a private chat room exclusively for paying members. Creators can then respond to these chats on camera during a live video stream, providing subscribers with a dedicated space for real-time engagement.

LinkedIn introduces new ‘Catch Up’ feature

LinkedIn is encouraging users to reach out to their connections through a new tab called “Catch Up”. This tab will highlight updates from connections, such as starting a new job, work anniversaries, or job postings. Users can easily engage with these updates directly from the tab or initiate a conversation with an AI-generated prompt

YouTube makes uploads easier for podcasters

YouTube has introduced a new RSS feed integration, allowing podcasters to automatically upload episodes to the platform. This direct RSS feed integration streamlines the process for audio-focused podcasters, enabling them to share their content on YouTube without the need for manual uploading of individual episodes. The RSS feeds connect seamlessly to YouTube Studio, syncing new episodes to the podcaster’s YouTube channel.

YouTube expands its online safety for young users

YouTube is expanding measures to help keep young users safe with new Take a Break reminders. The in-app alerts ensure users remain aware of the time they are spending on the app, now appearing as a full-screen alert across both Shorts and long-form videos.

Take a Break’s default setting is every 60 minutes and is an automatic feature for all teen and young children accounts. In addition, these accounts also have autoplay set to off.
