The role

We’re on the hunt for a dynamic Social Media Video Editor & Videographer who lives and breathes social media. You are someone who knows that the right meme can outperform a million-dollar campaign and understands that every TikTok and Instagram post is an opportunity to go viral. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our creative process, crafting visually stunning videos that not only look great but are sharable, relatable, and stand out in a content-overloaded market.

What You’ll Do

  • Create Compelling Content: You’ll produce innovative social media videos that integrate the latest trends, music, and memes to maintain relevance and engagement across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and beyond.
  • Trendjacking: Quickly leverage viral trends to create content that speaks to current social conversations and enhances our clients’ brand presence. That means you need a sense of humor or a strong understanding of brand voice.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of video editing software, modern mirrorless cameras, and how to ensure we can create high-quality content with an efficient workflow. (Let’s see those reels!)
  • Collaborative Creativity: Work closely with our content strategists and creative team to brainstorm and execute ideas that break the mold, while highlighting key product features and selling points in a fun way that people want to engage with.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Production, or a related field. Ensures candidates have formal education in video production, which provides foundational skills and knowledge in various aspects of filmmaking.
  • 3-5 years of experience in video editing and videography, preferably within a digital agency or similar fast-paced environment. This experience demonstrates proficiency in video production, crucial for handling the demands of social media content creation.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of video projects, including social media content. A portfolio is vital as it provides concrete examples of a candidate’s capabilities in video production and their aesthetic sense.
  • Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects. Knowledge of additional tools like DaVinci Resolve would also be beneficial.
  • Understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, and audience engagement, critical for creating compelling and shareable social media videos.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for working effectively within a team and with clients to realize project visions.
  • Experience with live shooting, lighting, and sound recording, which are often necessary for producing high-quality video content on location.
  • Experience working with lifestyle brands or in consumer electronics is a plus, as it indicates familiarity with industry-specific content requirements and audience expectations.

Requirements

WHO YOU ARE

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Production, or a related field. (If no relevant degree, then a strong portfolio is preferred.)

Professional Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in video editing and videography, preferably in a digital agency or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with lifestyle brands or consumer electronics is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in video editing software (DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro) 
  • Basic motion graphics skills (Adobe After Effects) to create text overlays, 2d asset manipulation, creative effects that emphasize a product’s features.
  • Experience with live shooting, including experience with studio lighting and sound recording.

Portfolio:

  • A strong portfolio showcasing a range of video projects, particularly those that include social media content, demonstrating visual storytelling and technical proficiency.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team and with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising quality.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to handle the dynamic requirements of social media projects.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, and how to engage an audience, critical for creating compelling and shareable social media videos.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current social media trends, particularly on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness, to produce content that resonates with a diverse audience.
