TikTok adds new options in Promote advertising tool

TikTok has announced targeting and boosting features for its Promote advertising tool. Promote is a way for creators to turn vertical videos into ads – TikTok is looking to make it easier for creators and small businesses to get their ads seen by the right people. The new features include allowing advertisers to drive traffic back to their TikTok page in order to show off a range of products or services and a “more messages” Promote goal to drive traffic directly to TikTok inboxes – particularly useful for small businesses. 

Instagram tests Memory feature 

Instagram is tapping into users’ sense of nostalgia by testing a ‘Memory’ Story prompt. The app has had different versions of this type of prompt in the app for some time, but this is a more direct push, similar to Facebook’s ‘On this day’. Users can tap on the Memory story as per the below image to be shown previous stories shared around this date.

Donald Trump is back on Facebook and Instagram

If your socials have felt a little more serene over the past couple of years, that may be due to one figure who’s been conspicuous in his absence… and now he’s back (on Facebook and Instagram at least). Former US President Donald Trump was banned from the social media platforms after the Capitol riots in 2021, but his pages have now been restored. If Mr Trump breaks the rules again, he may be removed again – for between one month and two years – Meta said.
