Instagram lets users add music to photo carousels and increases collaborators
Instagram has announced that it will allow users to add music to their photo carousels, giving artists the chance to share new music, or users to simply show off their music taste. The company has partnered with pop star Olivia Rodrigo, who showed off this feature on her account with a photo carousel along with her new single “bad idea right?”.
Instagram also announced that up to three people will now be able to collaborate on a post or a Reel, reaching the audience of all their followers.
Threads hooks into Instagram DMs
Threads has announced updates to the app to try and keep users engaged after a record-breaking launch in July. The company has announced a new feature that will allow users to send a Thread post via Instagram DM using a share button on the app. This will encourage Instagram users to click on Threads posts that are shared with them, leading them to open the app.
Meta has also now added the ability to verify Threads profiles on Mastodon, but are we expecting anyone to bother?
YouTube is disabling links on Shorts to cut down on spam
YouTube has announced that links that appear in the Shorts comments section, Shorts descriptions, and the vertical live feed, will no longer be clickable from August 31st. This new policy is to address the growing issues around spam, making it harder for scammers and spammers to mislead and scam users via links.
