Meta is developing its new “Movie Gen” AI tool with the help of several Hollywood filmmakers. While the tool currently helps users create short HD videos based on text prompts, the plan is to eventually help with video editing and updating existing clips.
YouTube combats deepfakes with new content disclosure labels
With waves of deepfakes flooding the internet, it’s getting harder and harder to work out just what is real and what is not. So, in a bid to tackle misleading content, YouTube is introducing a new system that will dive into how the content was created. Using C2PA standards, the tool will be able to detect whether the content is original, genuine or altered from its original form. A label will be added beneath the caption of the video explaining the origin of the content and if there have been any edits to the original.

Instagram is testing a new “Social Library” tab to easily find content that you have interacted with. The tab would list all of the posts that you’ve shared, liked or bookmarked in the app, all in one place. Perfect for those videos that seem to disappear into the abyss the moment you want to show your friend the next morning.
X updates privacy policy for AI training
X has updated its privacy policy to now allow “third-party ‘collaborators’” to use your posts to train its AI models. X’s AI model Grok already uses X posts and data as part of its model but posts being accessed by third parties is new. Users can opt out of this but while X suggests heading to the app’s settings, it’s not exactly clear exactly how to turn it off.
