The role

Overall Purpose of this Role

If you’d rather be on TikTok than reading this job ad, you’re in the right place.

We’re looking for a social-obsessed and culturally-connected content creator to join our Editorial team of social experts.

As a platform specialist, you’ll know what works on Reels vs.TikTok. As a social-first video creator, you won’t just follow trends, you’ll set them. And as a proven self-starter, you can take an idea all the way from ideation to execution, while handling feedback like a pro along the way. 

You don’t have to have traditional experience with a creative advertising agency (though obviously this is a bonus), but you do have to demonstrate a strong understanding of what gets social audiences going. So it could be that you’ve gone viral making comedic skits, gained a cult following through hot takes and cultural commentary, or are already a master of TikTok through a previous agency or brand role.

In addition to making your ideas, you’ll first need to be able to sell them into clients. So strong writing skills and an ability to articulate concepts before bringing them to life is a must. 

This role is fluid, fast-paced and future-focused. As well as creating content, you’ll provide valuable guidance to brands looking to play in the creator space, and assist colleagues in enhancing their short-form video skills. In return, you’ll get to be part of a global agency that’s committed to creating ideas worth talking about, for some of the world’s biggest brands. 

We’re open to hearing from anyone who reads this and thinks it’s for them. We see the role being suited to someone with 1-3 years’ experience in creating content (personally or professionally), but don’t let that stop you applying if you fall outside of that.

Additionally, if you’re someone who already has their own channel(s) and likes the sound of combining this role with existing personal projects, we’d be open to a flexible working arrangement. 

Specific Content of your Role

The nature of We Are Social’s business requires a high level of flexibility, common sense and versatility. While the specific content of your role is clearly defined, the nature of the demands placed on us and the creativity of our campaigns means that the role will evolve over time and needs a ‘can do’ approach to picking projects up and making them happen.

We expect you to show confidence and competence in the key areas below:

  • A love and proven history of creating short-form mobile video.
  • Technically proficient in bringing short-form mobile videos to life.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to script and sell-in ideas to clients.
  • Has a knows-no-bounds creative mindset.
  • Ability to spot emerging social trends and turn them into compelling content ideas for a variety of clients.
  • An understanding of the ‘sweet spot’ between content the audience wants and what the client’s objectives are.
  • A desire to work with brands and represent the agency in market.
  • An ability to stick to deadlines and work within a budget and client parameters.
  • A champion of creativity from ideation through to production and posting.
  • Strong platform knowledge of social channels, particularly TikTok.
  • A second-nature understanding of social platforms’ benefits, limitations and workarounds.
  • A knack for knowing why something would work better on Reels over TikTok (or any platform feature vs. another platform feature).
  • The ability to think big, but also remember the tiny details, too.
  • An understanding of branded content best practices and a commitment to staying on top of them, understanding the commercial implications they have.
  • Comfortable working on multiple tasks at once and managing your time smartly.
  • Tapped into culture and current events, as well as platform updates.
  • Collaborative by nature, but also a self-starter who wants to learn and isn’t afraid to throw themselves into things.
  • Able to take feedback and clear direction in your stride.
  • A team player who wants to push for team success, as well as personal growth.
