TikTok users can now send voice notes, images and videos in chats. Voice notes can be up to 60 seconds long, and you can share up to nine images or videos. With the image and video feature, you can either send directly from your camera or upload from your camera roll. You will also be able to edit it before sending. TikTok has said the feature will roll out over the next few weeks.
Threads is testing a new feature so you can share long-form text on the platform. Rather than having the text in a thread of separate posts, you will be able to attach a block of text to the post. The feature was spotted by app researcher Radu Oncescu as a “text attachment” feature on iOS. According to the app’s description of the feature, it will allow users to “attach longer text and get creative with styling tools to share deeper thoughts, news snippets, book excerpts, and more.”
YouTube has launched its “Hype” features across 39 countries, including the U.S., U.K., Japan, Korea, Indonesia, and India. The feature allows fans to help their favourite creators get discovered with a button that appears below the “like” button. Available for creators with less than 500,000 subscribers, viewers will be able to hype up to three videos per week, and they will appear on a new, ranked leaderboard in the Explore menu.
After releasing what feels like 100 new features a week, Instagram is launching a new series to show you how to make the most of its Edits app. The series is hosted by creator Adrian Per and will take you through a range of tools and features available on the app. The series will be 20 episodes long and will eventually be available in a dedicated “Tutorials” section.
The first five episodes in the series are now live.
