We Are Social. We Are Football Fans

As you may have seen in New Media Age last week, Indesit has appointed We Are Social to its global social media account, with us working on their overall social media strategy and providing campaign level support. While there are supporting teams working on this in our other European offices, we’re leading the engagement with Indesit from here in Milan.

The first project we’re working on we’re very excited about – Genuine Football Fan, in support of Indesit’s sponsorship of four top European football clubs – AC Milan, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Football is probably one of the most conversational topics in the world, and we hope to build a multi-country community around the passion and emotion of Football, where true fans can find out details and secrets about Football from the field and live football from the point of view of a Genuine Football Fan.

Genuine Football Fan lives on several social media channels – a dedicated conversation platform, on Facebook and Twitter.

It’s been a real pleasure for us to start to build a conversation around Football and to find a truly engaged community, willing to take part on different levels: as simple spectators, but also as critics and creators of content, but most importantly one wanting to engage in conversation.

The project launched a couple of weekends ago at the 2011 Emirates Cup, which took place at the Emirates Stadium in London. We invited football bloggers from all over Europe to take part in a five-a-side tournament, the Indesit Genuine Football Cup, playing with former players from all four of the sponsored clubs, including the likes of ex-Arsenal and England star Ray Parlour. As you can see in the video above, these guys really do live and breathe the passion and emotion of Genuine Football Fans.
