Help Age UK with #SecretSantaSacrifice
With the countdown to Christmas well underway, conversations are quickly shifting from status updates to Secret Santa:
“What am I supposed to buy Carl from IT ?”
“I didn’t even know we had a Carl from IT!”
Sound all too familiar?
We know that the office Secret Santa sucks – it’s a mandated waste of £5 on novelty tat that ends up in the bin. We also know that half a million older people spend Christmas alone. It’s time this changed. Here at We Are Social, we have been working with Age UK to ensure no-one has no-one this Christmas.
We came up with #SecretSantaSacrifice which encourages purchasing a gift from a virtual shop instead of the Secret Santa crap you normally buy. Don’t worry, your Secret Santee won’t go empty handed – as you can tweet, Facebook or email your recipient with their ‘gift’ – not to forget the warm fuzzy feeling you’ll both have!
The response we’ve had on Twitter so far has been very positive, but don’t just take our word for it, see for yourself:
Love @age_uk‘s #secretsantasacrifice. Great writing & brilliant pics to inspire a donation for good instead of tat https://t.co/p0kEXaq8Ln

As somebody who doesn’t like Secret Santa, I think this is a great campaign #SecretSantaSacrifice https://t.co/FgwToOWlGb

Would you give your secret santa money away for a great cause? We think its a brilliant idea! #secretsantasacrifice https://t.co/HOZAuUeOxz

So here’s your last chance to get involved. The more money we raise, the more older people Age UK can help. So go on – dig deep, ditch the tat and make sure this Christmas no-one has no-one.
