Google begins rolling out ads in YouTube Shorts globally
Google has been experimenting with ads in YouTube Shorts since last year, and this week the company has officially launched the feature worldwide. Video action campaigns and app campaigns will now automatically scale to YouTube Shorts. Google has also teased the upcoming ability for advertisers to connect their product feed to their campaigns and make their video ads on YouTube Shorts more shoppable. YouTube Shorts is generating 30 billion views per day, which is four times more than last year, the company says.

Snapchat introduces new ‘Shared Stories’ feature
Memories are what you make of them, and with Snapchat’s new ‘Shared Stories’ feature, there’s little chance of forgetting the good times. ‘Shared Stories’ allows users to create a story and add friends to view and contribute to it. Users added to a group can add their friends, meaning several people can contribute to one story. This means that one story will gain several perspectives, perfect for giving your devoted followers a well-rounded snapshot of your day. The feature aims to make it easier for users on the app to collaborate and share memories.

Twitter Media becomes Twitter Create
Creators are coming first on Twitter. The platform has rebranded its Twitter Media website to Twitter Create, with the page acting as a new hub for creators to access resources and tips. The new rebrand hopes to make it easier for creators to understand how they can use Twitter’s creator products and connect with others on the platform. The website also includes guides for creators based on their goals on Twitter, such as earning money, engaging with their audience or further developing their brand.

Instagram unveils brand refresh
New look alert! Instagram has debuted its refreshed brand identity, including the creation of its very own typeface. Instagram Sans is said to be inspired by the platform’s logo and will be used broadly in the app’s marketing going forward. The typeface draws on distinctive qualities of the Instagram word mark and logo, which has softly rounded corners that place it somewhere between a circle and a square — a form the platform calls the “squircle.”
