Black Perspectives returns for season 5

People & Culture

Our long-running ‘Black Perspectives’ series is back for series five! In this blog, Lucy Doubleday, Managing Partner at We Are Social UK talks about the history of the series and what’s coming this year.

Black Perspectives celebrates and champions Black creators, creatives and entrepreneurs, allowing them to share their stories and their insights into their worlds of work and beyond. The latest series premiered on YouTube earlier this year, featuring Habiba Katsha, journalist and founder of Congolese Roots. The next episode is set to launch on 3rd June with Que from Dopereaders Club.  Filmed in our London studio, episodes will be released quarterly.

Black Perspectives debuted in 2020 as an Instagram Live series and last year launched with a new YouTube-led format with Sayce Holmes-Lewis, Jeaniq Amihya, Marc Thompson and Georgina Hayfron. It is one of our commitments in our annual Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Charter for Change; a public framework, introduced in 2018, designed to drive meaningful progress across People, Culture, and Work.

The Charter for Change is updated annually to reflect progress made in our diversity commitments and share the our key focus areas for the year to come. Accountability for delivering the Charter sits with the agency’s leadership team, chaired by myself, ensuring that diversity and inclusion remain central to the agency’s strategy and operations.

I’ve loved watching Black Perspectives grow from those early Instagram Lives into the high-production series it is today. For us, this isn’t just a content series—it’s about our long-term commitment to championing Black voices and making space for their stories. I am so excited to have Habiba and Que on board for series five and can’t wait for everyone to hear more about their journeys.
