This week, Instagram is clearing up any AI creator confusion with revamped AI-profile labels. Threads is looking at rewarding users who go viral while Bluesky is giving users the option to never go viral. And, you heard right. Twitter is back.

Instagram helps users identify AI profiles

Instagram is making changes to how it labels AI generated accounts, changing the current “AI Creator” label to “AI-generated profile”. The change is meant to make it easier to understand and helps users know if the person on the account is actually real. If AI-generated profiles don’t use the label, they could have their reach reduced.

Is Twitter back?

A new social network called “Twitter.now” has turned up online, operated by Operation Bluebird. Part of the Operation Bluebird team includes former Twitter trademark counsel Stephen Coates. Coates said that the company is not trying to recreate Twitter. We don’t know much yet, but according to the site’s homepage, it will use an AI system to gauge posts, check claims, give users the source of the claims and attach a trust score. The site is currently in testing, and early access costs $20.

X gives out free credits to get people using AI bot

In an attempt to get more people using its AI bot, X is giving away free X API credits. As explained by X: “Connect your X account in Grok Bot and we’ll create a developer account for you if you don’t have one. Paid Grok Bot users get free X API credits to start.” Once connected, the bot can search X posts, read users’ timelines, check mentions or create reports based on trends.

App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi has spotted a new feature on Threads. The back-end code revealed a new virtual gem reward for users getting high engagement on a post. Threads is yet to confirm the feature so the gem could just be a visual or could include a monetary incentive – similar to X
