Marking a 30 year legacy
The MOBOs turned 30 and Amazon Music had one chance to make an impact and celebrate its 30 year legacy. So, how do you capture the hype of the UK’s biggest celebration of Black music? You don’t just film it, you embed yourself in it.
Wanna buy my mixtape?
After kicking off at the pre-MOBO event interviewing the nominees (and, of course, Bus Auntie), it was time for the main event. We wanted to chat to the generation who lived through the mixtape era and grew up on that sound. Breaking the basic interview formula, we took it back to the 90s and 2000s to recreate the moment.
With a lapel mic attached to a custom mixtape we asked artists and creators about their own hustle, struggles, and the first mixtapes they ever bought. Our host Stephxnotsteve caught people off guard, just like when people bought and sold mixtapes back in the day.
Meanwhile Zeze Millz took charge of the red carpet coverage, capturing the atmosphere and initial reactions of the night.
By tapping into the essence of nostalgia and the roots of the UK Black music scene,
We managed to truly connect to communities that lived through that era, while introducing a whole new generation to the sound that started it all.
Lights. Cameras. Action.
Then comes the glamcam. A beautifully designed set with metallic drapes and Amazon Music x MOBOs branding in the centre. For the cam part of “glamcam” we thought one wasn’t enough. With help from Amity Studios, we brought this set to life using 3D imagery to create an eye catching visual piece.
