\ Interim Design Director

We’re looking for a seasoned Design Director to join We Are Social London on a 6-month fixed-term contract starting ASAP.

You’ll need experience leading, supporting, mentoring and guiding a large design department and ensuring quality output in a fast-paced environment. As an experienced manager, you’ll enjoy looking after people’s individual needs whilst maintaining the ability to consider the bigger picture. Your focus will be on making sure the right people are on the right jobs at the right time.

Whilst being approachable and open-minded you’ll also have good negotiation skills and the ability to be persuasive. You’ll need excellent organisational skills combined with the desire to inspire and bring people together.

As an experienced multidiscipline designer with social and integrated experience, you’ll be able to advise teams on the best way to approach jobs for design and give scopings on projects while overseeing and directing the work of other designers.

What the role entails:
- Lead and manage a large team of 25 multi-skilled designers
- Responsible for the quality of output of the department
- Support the delivery of the creative vision ‘Ideas worth talking about’
- Motivate and influence design team to constantly strive for excellence
- Establish budgets and schedules for design projects
- Clearly articulate design concepts to various internal and external audiences
- Facilitate a positive work environment and good relationships
- Develop and manage productivity and to continuously improve the design team’s production capabilities
- Manage design processes to ensure timely delivery of designs

What you’ll need to succeed:
- The ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines
- Strong knowledge of social
- Personable and inspirational
- Ability to lead design projects from concept to completion
- Strong technical skills across various mediums that allow you to help others with their work (Motion, Print, Photography etc.)
- Demonstrable track-record of managing and mentoring design teams
- Excellent understanding of production design process and methodology
- Excellent organisational skills and experience of establishing enduring processes
- Ability to balance the impacts of deadlines and resources with creative and quality requirements
- Strong time management skills with a proven ability to focus on priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive level staff on a broad range of topics and convey complex ideas to audiences of varying design expertise
- Comfortable getting hands-on where necessary
- Proven track record in creating excellent brand and design work from concept to production
- Experience with software including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premier, InDesign and ideally Cinema 4D
- Previous experience as a Design Director
