Meta launches AI assistant on Facebook

Meta is bringing a new AI assistant to Facebook. The assistant will be able to help creators with questions like “When should I post” and “What are people saying in my comments” and can also answer follow-up questions to dig deeper into creator analytics. The assistant can also help with creative ideas, brainstorming new content based on what’s currently trending. It is currently rolling out in the U.S., Canada and India.

TikTok launches new app in time for FIFA World Cup

TikTok is launching a new app in the U.S. called TikTok Pro Events. The app spotlights big cultural events (like the upcoming FIFA World Cup) and allows fans to engage with each other, explore trends and view curated creator feeds. The app also features activities that users aged 18+ can complete to earn “Stars”. Stars can be redeemed for exclusive benefits including official FIFA World Cup merch, TIkTok Shop coupons and charity donations.

Meta tests new feature on Reels

Meta is testing a new feature called “Series” on Reels to help make it easier to keep up to date with serialised content. Creators will be able to create a series on Reels with each episode living on a dedicated hub on their profile. For the initial test, Meta is working with select creators who already share serialised content on Instagram and Facebook.

X adds video reactions 

X has launched a new “React with Video” feature which is being pitched as an alternative to Reposting. Rather than just clicking repost and moving on, X wants users to record a video response to posts. X’s head of product Nikita Bier wrote, “Commentary is one of the most important pillars of X. And sometimes the best way to share your thoughts is with video.” The feature is currently available on iOS and will be rolled out to Android and web “soon.”
