Junior Strategist

Australia Strategy

The role

The Junior Strategist role is one for the intellectually curious and culturally connected.

To succeed, the successful candidate must demonstrate eagerness to learn how to connect social media activity to broader marketing success, and ambition to contribute to impactful creative ideas.

Key to the role will be the ability to recognise and differentiate between brand strategy, comms strategy and content strategy, and, over time, how to not only develop them, but draw connections between them.

The Junior Strategist will work closely with other more senior strategists, analysts, account teams and creatives to help define marketing goals, gather and analyse insights, contribute to idea development and assist with measurement and optimisation of strategies over time. The salary range for this role is between $70,000 and $80,000, depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

Strategy & Trend Development

  • Keep on top of social, cultural and platform trends and share relevant insights with the wider team.
  • Support with data gathering and basic analysis (social listening, desk research, platform analytics) to inform strategy development.
  • Assist in building strategic frameworks, inspiring decks and POVs under the guidance of senior team members.

Teamwork and Relationship management

  • Work collaboratively with multiple departments, helping to align strategic thinking across the agency.
  • Contribute to writing creative briefs and help prepare materials for brainstorms, workshops and client reviews.
  • Liaise with the Research & Insight team to help set up measurement frameworks, social listening reports and post‑campaign analysis.

New Business/Commercial Activities

  • Provide desktop research, competitor audits and cultural trend identification to inform new business opportunities and pitches.
  • Help craft slide decks, audience snapshots and insights that bring inspiring thinking to potential clients.

While the specific content of your role is clearly defined, the nature of the demands placed on us by our clients means that this role will evolve over time and needs a ‘can‑do’ approach.

Your skills and experience

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a strategy, insights, social media or related marketing role (agency or client‑side).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, cultural trends and basic audience/analytics tools (e.g. Brandwatch, TikTok/Meta Insights, YouGov, GWI) and with a keenness to deepen this familiarity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an eye for storytelling in decks and workshops.
  • Analytical mindset with comfort working with numbers and qualitative observations.
  • Proactive, resourceful, collaborative and enthusiastic; a growth mindset and desire to learn from others.
  • Passion for social, culture and creativity; plugged‑in to what’s happening online and IRL.
