YouTube is launching new generative AI features on Shorts. A new image-to-video feature lets users turn pictures into a six-second video. Once the image is uploaded, you can pick from a selection of options that best fit the image, and YouTube will create the video. YouTube has also added new AI effects that can transform sketches into artistic images and turn selfies into videos where you’re swimming underwater, twinning with someone, and more.
Threads is introducing new metrics for creators with a more detailed insights dashboard. Creators will be able to see post engagement by likes, replies, quotes, and reposts. They will also be able to explore follower growth with geographic stats like top cities and countries, and demographic info like age range and gender.
Following a ban on hashtags in promoted posts, X is now placing emojis in ad jail. Starting soon “ads with more than one emoji in the ad copy or creative will have a lower quality score and may experience higher pricing”. But this doesn’t apply to ads in Japan or Korea. They can add as many emojis as their hearts desire. The good news is that there are no emoji bans here: 👀🎉🤪✨❤️🔥🎶
X is launching a pilot test with Community Notes, with selected users being asked to rate posts through a series of questions when contributing to a note. Contributors will see a callout on the note when a post is gaining attention. Contributors will then be able to rate and provide feedback about the post.
