Creator report: Learn while it’s live

Reports

We recently released a new report, We Are Social Decodes: The New Creator Operating Model. It offers three key principles for achieving brand success in creator marketing. Here, we turn to the third and final principle: Learn while it’s live.

Analysing results at the end of a creator campaign is one campaign too late. Marketers need to make it a habit to constantly interrogate how and why creator content performs while it’s live and use this to constantly rework and rebrief their creator line-up.

Creators know the feed like the back of their hands. They can feel a format going stale before a brand does, and the best ones pivot before anyone briefs them to. Instead of treating them as part of the final deliverable, include creators in an ongoing feedback loop.

They can sense what survives in the feed earlier than any social listening tool, signaling emergent opportunities to ride next. By treating creators as an early warning system, brands can spot what the feed rewards and back emergent trends before they become crowded.

Booking.com exemplifies this principle perfectly through its “creator playground”. Rather than sticking to a fixed roster, the brand reserves two to three briefs every month exclusively for emerging creators and continuous experimentation. These active experiments uncover which formats and subcultures perform best, directly informing how the brand briefs for its next campaign.

The report also highlights how Netflix amplified live learnings by turning a fan’s handwritten letter into a special final episode for an Italian teen drama, garnering over 526,000 views and building a shared community moment.

In a landscape where platform algorithms mutate continuously, active creator campaigns should serve as a live listening lab. Judging performance week-by-week ensures you never miss the next opportunity.
