YouTube expands its Gen AI features

YouTube is dropping huge AI updates, expanding access to existing tools like Clips, Green Screen, and the AI Playground. The platform is also upgrading the Image-to-Video tool to let you animate still images with prompts and integrate speech. A brand-new Speech-to-Song feature is also launching to turn spoken audio into a musical mix. And the AI model powering Shorts Generation is getting an upgrade.
YouTube is testing a new customisable feed that would let you update the recommendations your algorithm serves you. The “Your custom feed” feature is being tested on Home feeds with select users and appears as a chip next to “Home”. When you click into it, you can update your feed by entering a prompt. It’s still in testing so only a lucky few are currently able to try it out.
Threads is adding a new option to its group chat feature, which lets you share invite links with other users. This means you will no longer need to invite people individually to your group. In your DMs, you can find the invite link and send it out to all your future group chat contributors, all at once. Only admins can create a link, and they will need to approve anyone who wants to join.
X has started using Grok’s AI tools to sort your feed. This means that posts are now sorted based on “predicted engagement and relevance to you,” rather than chronologically. X users aren’t too happy with the change, but X owner Elon Musk reassured, “You can still access unfiltered chronological if you want.” Ever the wordsmith, thanks, Elon.
