We Are Social’s Tuesday Tune Up
This week, Instagram is the talk of the town with Meta revealing it as its most popular social platform and also removing the most annoying thing about the app – goodbye auto refresh. YouTube is putting the power into creators’ hands with its new brand partnership feature – but don’t expect to make any money using it just yet.
Meanwhile, Loewe continues to test the limits of social, this time with quite literally nothing at all. Read on for the latest in social media news.
YouTube adds new brand collab feature to Shorts

YouTube is introducing a new feature that will allow Shorts creators to invite brands to partner with their videos, shifting control from brands to the creators themselves. If the brand accepts the invite, they will be able to view organic video performance in Google Ads and have reuse rights of the content. While the creator will not earn any commission with this feature, it will help establish relationships with brands that could lead to future paid partnerships.

Feeling like social media is getting a bit crowded? Well, it is. Meta has revealed that Instagram now has over 269 million active users in the EU, outdoing Facebook by 9 million users! While Facebook might be trailing behind Instagram, it’s still holding strong compared to TikTok’s 150 million active users and X’s 66 million.
Instagram to stop auto-refreshing
We’ve all been there: you open Instagram, see a post that looks interesting, and before you can even take a look, it disappears into the void, seemingly forever. Well, Instagram’s top dog, Adam Mosseri has come to the rescue announcing that the app will now wait for you to scroll before refreshing.
