Instagram launches Reposts

Instagram has always been against a reposting feature, worrying it might discourage original posting. Well, in a surprise twist, reposts are now on IG. You can now repost Reels and Feed posts to your friends and followers’ feeds, with the reposts being saved in a new tab on your profile. Reposts will include a small image of your profile picture and a purple repost icon, and the content will always be credited to the original creator.
Instagram is rolling out a new map feature called Instagram Map. Similar to Snapchat’s SnapMap, users can share their location with others and discover location-based content. Location sharing is off by default, and your location is only updated when you open the app. Content will also appear on the map, meaning you can discover what’s going on in the area. The map feature is launching first in the U.S. and will launch globally soon. Social had mixed reactions, with a few worrying it’s a bit creepy.
Is it really a new week if there isn’t another round of Edits updates? First up is a “Stickies-to-Teleprompter” feature that turns your script into a layered teleprompter on your screen. Another feature allows you to share unpublished drafts directly from the app’s editor to Instagram DMs. And, you can now boost the sound in your videos up to 150% – perfect for those accidental thumb over microphone mishaps.
Meta is using its AI tools to help power VR creation. They’ve added a new AI chatbot to help with their Horizon Worlds creation tool, which will enable people to create interactive VR experiences without any coding knowledge.
